‘Sekkuwa’ is a political comedy, a humorous portrayal of Sri Lankan political system. The miserable story of the ever impoverished and hoodwinked common man subjected to lifelong torment is brought to the spectators in a side-splitting presentation. The political machinery (system) is depicted by the Sekkuwa (Oil Press – Dried coconut is put into a drum shaped container made out of wood to which a yoke is fixed and the yoke is rotated round and round by two bulls until the oil is extracted from the dried out coconut meat), the Bulls pulling the yoke is rotated time to time like the changing the ruling parties and the man driving the bulls round and round represent the common folk. The oil extracted is the toil of the ever tormented common folk.  Just like the way Sekkuwa turns round and round continuously the same Political Circle rotates changing the tormentor form time to time but never changing the tormented.
